SonoTale

Terms of Service

Last updated June 26, 2026

These terms govern your use of SonoTale. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.

1. The service

SonoTale is a software service that turns manuscripts you own into AI-produced audiobooks — voicing characters, optionally adding a score and sound design, and exporting finished audio. Features, editions, and pricing are described on our pricing page.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate information, keep your login secure, and are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to use SonoTale. If you add team members, you are responsible for their use of your workspace.

3. Your content and rights

  • You own your content. You retain all rights to the manuscripts you upload and to the audio you generate from them. We claim no ownership of your work.
  • You must hold the rights. You represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary rights to every manuscript you upload and produce, and that doing so does not infringe anyone’s copyright or other rights. You confirm this when you create a project.
  • Licence to operate the service. You grant us a limited licence to store and process your content solely to provide the service to you (e.g. to synthesize voices, stitch and master the audio, and deliver your files).
  • Commercial rights to your output. Subject to these terms and your payment, the finished audio you generate is yours to use commercially, including publishing and selling it, as described on the pricing page.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use SonoTale to:

  • upload or produce content you do not have the rights to, or that infringes intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights;
  • create unlawful, hateful, harassing, or harmful content, or content that exploits or endangers minors;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service;
  • resell or misrepresent the service, or impersonate any person or voice you are not entitled to use.

5. AI-produced audio

Audio created with SonoTale is generated by AI. You are responsible for reviewing your output before you publish or distribute it. Where required, exports include an AI-disclosure tag. You are responsible for complying with the disclosure and labeling rules of any platform you distribute to.

6. Payment, credits and refunds

  • Pay-as-you-go. SonoTale is credit-based; you buy credits and spend them only when you generate audio, priced per finished hour as shown on the pricing page. Chapter 1 is free so you can hear the result first.
  • Payments. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By purchasing, you authorize the applicable charge.
  • When you are charged. Credits are consumed when you generate audio. Re-rendering, editing, or re-exporting a chapter you already paid for in the same edition does not cost extra — there are no re-narration fees.
  • Refunds. Because generation produces a delivered audio file and incurs real production cost, credits that have been spent on generated audio are non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, or a render failed and still consumed credit, contact us and we will make it right.
  • Unused credits. You may request a refund of an unused, recently-purchased credit balance by emailing us; we handle these reasonably and in line with applicable consumer law.

7. Our intellectual property

The SonoTale name, brand, website, software, and underlying technology are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms grant you a limited right to use the service; they do not transfer any ownership of SonoTale itself to you.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation. You are responsible for how you use the audio you create.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SonoTale will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your mandatory rights as a consumer.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold SonoTale harmless from claims arising out of content you upload or produce, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right — including any claim that a manuscript you produced infringes someone’s rights.

11. Termination

You may stop using SonoTale at any time and delete your books or account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or that pose a risk to the service or other users. You can export or download your finished audio while your account is active.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, and disputes are subject to the competent courts of the Netherlands, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your country of residence.
